Had the quick idea to grab the list of attendees from the wikisite and reference it against those who have put in a location on hackrtrackr. The map now shows a red line from the hackers location to Mountain View if they will be attending. So if you haven't added your name to the wiki site or hackrtrackr.com and you'll being attending Startup School, please do, as the map will refresh daily.
Sorry for the delay everybody, but I had to switch servers because the cheap godaddy account I had this site on wouldn't allow me access to an external URL with a file read. Without that I couldn't verify accounts so I had to move. But now that is done, so feel free to setup your account so that you can login and participate in the new forums.
And yes I know that the forums are fairly simple, but I aim to improve them, all I need is time.
Just wanted to make everyone aware that the forums are coming. Yesterday I finished putting together a system that will allow Y combinator users the ability to sign in to HackrTrackr with a verified Y Combinator user name. All that I have left to do tonight is add in some discussion code. So hopefully by tommorow we can all start setting up some meetings and such.
When I first built this I didn't realize it would take off so well, and as a result I did plan to have alot of international users, but based upon the emails I've received and the suggestions that were posted on the Y Combinator news story, I have altered the location system to simply use the Google Geocoder. This will allow anyone to provide their Y combinator username, city, and country and be added to the list.
Based upon the suggestion by jey, I've altered the site to pop up a info window with the selected user's information instead of redirecting to a new page.
The option to view all of the readers in a state still can be selected once a user information window has been opened.
I'll be working on adding the ability for those outside of the U.S. to join tonight as well as adding a location based forum.
